Hip-hop artist who headed Ossoff, Warnock event generates controversy after the emergence of screen capture: report

Republicans criticized John Ossoff and Reverend Raphael Warnock for choosing a hip-hop artist who spearheaded a campaign event on Monday after a worrying screenshot emerged that appeared to be from the rapper’s Twitter account.

BRS Kash, a 27-year-old rapper, asked the crowd at the New Born Baptist Missionary Church in the city of Lithonia to vote, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The event was called a drive-in rally aimed at garnering last-minute support from young voters for Ossoff and Warnock, the two Democrats seeking to overthrow the state’s two Republican senators in the crucial second round of January 5.

Nathan Brand, spokesman for the National Republican Senatorial Committee, retweeted the screen grabbed and wrote, “This is who Georgia Democrats Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff made the headline for today. Are they going to report this disgusting individual?”

Aunt Mitchell, the reporter who wrote the article for AJC, said she updated her story to reflect the Republican outcry and was unaware of the tweet.

Ossoff and Warnock did not immediately respond to the newspaper, nor did they respond to an e-mail from Fox News asking for comment. BRS Kash did not respond to an email requesting comments from Fox News.

The rally included entries from FKA DRAM, JID, Tokoyo Jetz and was presented by Reginae Carter. The newspaper reported that Carter is the daughter of rapper Lil Wayne, who made headlines when he posed with President Trump for a photo before the November election.

Warnock is facing Senator Kelly Loeffler and Ossoff is running against Senator David Perdue. Participation is likely to play an important role, which is why candidates are working to cheer up voters as time goes on.

Nearly 2.1 million voters voted, almost at the same pace as the November 3 general elections. It is unclear how the Christmas holiday will affect the pace of voting. In-person voting takes place through December 31 in some counties.

On Sunday night, President Donald Trump tweeted that he would visit Georgia on January 4, the eve of the second round, for a rally in support of Perdue and Loeffler.
