Duff opened up to PEOPLE in December about preparing for his third child, explaining why this time she decided to keep the baby’s gender unknown until their arrival.

“We had a gender reveal with Banks and it was a really fun memory,” she said. “Unfortunately, during those times, we thought it was not really appropriate. The way we are creating some excitement within the family is to wait to discover sex on the baby’s birthday!”

This time, Duff said, she was much more relaxed with the pregnancy than the second.

“This pregnancy seems easier because there was a lot of fear of bringing a new baby home when Luca was six and a half years old,” she said. “I’m more tired of having a small child, but I have less time to focus on pregnancy because I’m busy with my kids and work. It’s a good distraction because I’m not searching everything on Google and obsessed with everything that’s going on with pregnancy. “

“There is a security in knowing what we need to have a newborn at home, since we were kind of there with Banks,” added Duff. “The two children are super excited about the new baby and this is a comfort I didn’t have the first time.”

Duff and Koma, a singer / songwriter, announced their engagement in May 2019, and they were married later that year, in December. For his one-year wedding anniversary last winter, Duff shared a photo of his wedding on Instagram and reflected on his wedding.

“Matt and I were too nervous to eat on our wedding day … this is right after … we put a plate of apps that someone brought us before taking pictures and that sums us up very well,” she wrote. “Snacks for life, dreaming of dinner at 7 am and fighting with children. Ah, and avoiding greed in the first year of marriage 😕. Always with you, baby. For you. Again and again I choose you and this ♥ ️ thanks for being one damn good man. “
