Hilaria and Alec Baldwin revealed their daughter’s name on Tuesday, but a mystery still remains: was she born from a surrogate?
The timeline for the birth of baby Lúcia has been a major point of discussion since Hilaria, 37, and Alec, 62, announced on Monday that they welcomed their sixth child just five months after the birth of their second son, Eduardo.
When pressed for more details, the couple’s representative told Page Six, “We are not yet issuing a statement or confirming anything – what she posted.”
Although the Baldwins are silent about how their smallest “Baldwinito” came into the world, fans on social media noted that Hilaria follows a rental rental agency – which has offices in New York – called Alcea Surrogacy on Instagram.
Coincidentally, the company congratulated one of its “IPs”, which means future parents, for the “incredible birth of their daughter” a few days before Alec and Hilaria shared the first photo of baby Lúcia.
Page six was unable to confirm whether Hilaria and Alec used Alcea Surrogacy to welcome their sixth child. A representative of the company and the Baldwins did not immediately return our requests for comment.
Alec and Hilaria live in Manhattan with their newborn and five other children, 5 month old son Eduardo, 2 year old son Romeo Alejandro David, 4 year old son Leonardo Ángel Charles, 5 year old son Rafael Thomas and daughter Carmen Gabriela, 7 years.
However, it is also possible that Hilaria would follow the story because she interviewed Alcea Surrogacy co-founder Angela Richardson-Mook on her “Mom Brain” podcast in November.
In the interview, Richardson-Mook praised Hilaria for being so open about the difficulties of losing her pregnancy after suffering two miscarriages in 2019.
“I see Hilaria so raw and vulnerable in relation to her own losses,” said the executive director. “The more often and the more influential people talk about, the just… devastation of the loss. What this leads to is perhaps hope ”.
Although Hilaria has spoken openly about her pregnancy in the past, she has not revealed many details about Lúcia’s birth. In that interview with Richardson-Mook, she talked about the “fear” that some may feel that “people will not see you as their mother if you used a surrogate”, but she did not say if she had ever used one.
“But then you really think about, not just those nine months, but every sleepless night, all the vomiting on you, the school, all these classes. . . all the other experiences that make you mom and dad, ”she added.
Richardson-Mook stressed that this is not an easy decision for parents and that it takes an average of about 50 months to resolve the surrogacy process.
If that were the case with Hilaria and Alec, they would have plunged into the surrogate long before she became pregnant with Eduardo.
“It all comes down to the mother’s guilt,” said Hilaria in her podcast. “Am I worth it? Is it a risk that I am willing to take – on both sides? “
On social media, a fan asked Alec about the birth of her son, writing: “Who is the mother? She was not pregnant. She gave birth six months ago. If it were a substitute, just say so. “
