The High Point University men’s golf team returns to South Carolina this weekend (6-7 February) to compete at the Rains Development Intercollegiate, organized by Francis Marion University at the South Carolina Country Club in Florence, SC
The field
The HPU is accompanied by members of Big South, Charleston Southern, Gardner-Webb and Presbyterian in the field. Along with Francis Marion, opponents outside the conference on the field include the state of Georgia, the state of Kennesaw, the state of Middle Tennessee, Central North Carolina, Richmond and Wofford.

South Carolina Country Club
The South Carolina Country Club highlights the beauty of South Carolina’s Lowcountry and was voted one of the state’s “Best Fields to Play”. Ellis Maples designed the 7,062-yard layout around scenic lakes and Blak Creek, with many greens set in holes surrounded by dogwoods, azaleas and old hardwoods.
Format and schedule
The tournament is scheduled for two days, with 36 holes on Saturday (February 6) to open the tournament, starting with an 8:30 am shotgun match, followed by the final 18 holes on Sunday (February 7). Each team will have six players competing, with the top four scores each day counting towards the team total.
Last Time
The highlight was at Kiawah Island, SC, from January 24th to 26th, playing their first tournament of the year at Any Given Tuesday Intercollegiate. The Panthers came in ninth place as a team, with Brandon Einstein leading the way in three (70-75-68-213) for a portion of 12th place.
An excerpt from South Carolina
This weekend is the middle of the three-event extension tournament that brings Roxo and Branco to Palmetto State. HPU will return to South Carolina later this month to participate in the Pinnacle Bank Intercollegiate in Hilton Head, SC, also organized by Francis Marion. High Point has two more trips to South Carolina scheduled after that, returning to the Furman Intercollegiate in late March and then to the Big South Championships in April.
Next: The Panthers are off until February 22 and 23, when the HPU heads to Hilton Head, SC, for the Pinnacle Bank Intercollegiate on the Arthur Hills Course in Palmetto Hall.
