Hidden code points for facial unlocking on the display, fingerprint reader for Pixel 6 5G

Based on hidden code found in the first Developer Preview of Android 12, Pixel 6 can feature a fingerprint scanner on the display and a facial authorization system. You must remember that the Pixel 4 features Face Unlock by dropping the fingerprint sensor. THE The Pixel 5 reversed this by removing the facial unlock and bringing the rear fingerprint reader back.
XDA’s Mishaal Rahman found the code string on the Developer Preview that was released yesterday. The code mentions enrollment in Face Unlock and Fingerprint Unlock. He also says: “Make unlocking your phone a breeze”, “Save time by unlocking your phone in your pocket” and “Unlock your phone safely with your face and fingerprint”. There has been speculation that Apple is working on display versions of Touch ID and Face ID and yesterday we talked about a patent application that Apple filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) related to the placement of cameras, depth sensors, biometric sensors and other on an iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch screen.

Remember that despite Rahman’s discovery, there is no guarantee that the Pixel 6 will have a fingerprint reader on the display, even if it becomes a native Android feature. And it goes without saying that there is no guarantee that Google will bring back Face Unlock. At the beginning of last year, Face Unlock broke down. Without a biometric backup like a fingerprint reader, Pixel 4 users had to resort to using a PIN, pattern or password to unlock the device. If this code proves legitimate, Pixel 6 users can use a fingerprint reader when facial recognition is not working and vice versa.
The big question for those interested in Pixel 6 is whether Google will return the Pixel line to flagship status. The Pixel 5 is powered by the Snapdragon 765G, instead of the Snapdragon 865 chipset. If the Pixel 6 returns to its main roots, we can expect it to be equipped with the Snapdragon 888, which is currently Qualcomm’s main chip. We can see the Pixel 6 launched next October.
