Hiatus Kaiyote announced his next album, Mood Valiant. It arrives on June 25th via Brainfeeder / Ninja Tune and is led by a new single, “Get Sun”, with the participation of the legendary Brazilian composer / arranger Arthur Verocai. Hear that below. Mood Valiant is Hiatus Kaiyote’s first new album since 2015 Choose your weapon. The songs on this album were sampled by names like Kendrick Lamar, Drake and Chance the Rapper, among others. The album also features Hiatus Kaiyote’s first new song since vocalist Nai Palm was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018, a trial she cites as a perspective-changing experience for the band.
“When you think your life is going to be taken away from you, it makes you think about who you are,” said Nai Palm in a press release. “I think that after the breast cancer scare, I decided that I needed to prove for life that the offer I have is genuine. My only desire is to live and offer my experience of time and beauty. “
