‘He’s the head of the Republican Party’

Lara Trump, Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law and former adviser, called the former president “head of the Republican Party” when discussing his next appearance at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).

During a Saturday night appearance on Fox News Justice with Judge Jeanine, Lara Trump said: “Look, he is the head of the Republican Party”, referring to the former president. “He is really the person that everyone will continue to turn to to help them cross the line.”

“Whether we’re talking about 2022 or more, I think this man changed politics and changed our party, the Republican Party,” she added. “There is no doubt about it.”

Former President Donald Trump is expected to speak at the CPAC in Orlando, Florida, next week, in his first major public appearance since leaving office in January.

Trump spoke at CPAC in previous years, but it was unclear whether he would appear at the conference after his defeat in the 2020 presidential election until Saturday.

The annual conservative conference, which usually takes place near Washington DC, was moved to Florida this year to avoid strict coronavirus restrictions in the area. State restrictions on coronavirus in Florida were lifted in late 2020.

Conference organizers said Newsweek on Saturday, Trump will speak on Sunday afternoon, the last day of the conference, which is scheduled to take place February 25-28.

The former president will use his time to discuss the future of the Republican Party and the conservative movement, according to The hill. Trump is also expected to attack President Joe Biden’s immigration plan, highlighting “disastrous amnesty and border policies”.

Allies of the former president – including Texas Republican Senator Ted Cruz, Florida representative Matt Gaetz and Alabama representative Mo Brooks – will be guest speakers at the convention.

“I am very excited to hear from him at CPAC. Obviously, it will be the first time anyone has heard of him since he left office,” said Lara Trump, adding that she believes the former president will waste time on his speech to thank your supporters.

“The expression of support for Donald Trump since he left office has been incredible,” she added. “So, he will probably be very grateful to these people.”

During his appearance in Justice with Judge Jeanine, Lara Trump also noted that her father-in-law “indicated that he would probably be interested in running again in 2024.”

“Well, look, he told us to be on the lookout, as it didn’t end for him,” said Lara Trump.

Newsweek contacted Lara Trump, but got no response in time for publication.
