Hermann Memorial adjusts visit policy, allowing an adult to visit one patient each day

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – The Memorial Hermann Health System announced on Wednesday that it is changing its visitation policy.

On February 10, the hospital system announced that it will now allow a person aged 18 or over to visit a patient a day. The new policy begins Thursday, February 11.

As for pediatrics, Memorial Hermann said it will allow two adults to visit [18 and over] per patient per day and an adult [18 and over] overnight visitor.

The new policy will apply to all facilities at Memorial Hermann.

Additional details of Memorial Hermann’s updated visitor policy include:

  • One visitor (18 years or older) per patient per day will be allowed.
  • Age restrictions do not apply to visitors under the age of 18 who come to the Emergency Center with a patient. Minors accompanying patients at the Emergency Center can remain with the patient.
  • Visiting hours for all Memorial Hermann, TIRR Memorial Hermann and Katy Rehab hospitals are 9:00 am to 8:00 pm
  • Visitors of Day Surgery patients may remain in place until the patient is discharged, as long as social distance is not compromised in the waiting area.
  • Family members can visit patients in hospices or supportive medical care.
  • Visitors can use hospital cafeterias and cafes.

All visitors must undergo a health check before entering the facility and wear a mask that will be provided by the hospital at all times.

For family members who are unable to visit their loved ones at the hospital, Memorial Hermann is encouraging the use of video conferencing programs on personal devices.
