If you’ve finally updated your PC’s software or unpacked a new machine and are starting to use Windows 10 for the first time, there are a few things you need to know.
First, access your settings and log in with your Microsoft account to sync previous settings from previous versions of Windows and make sure that the settings you adjust in the future are also synchronized. If you have never created a Microsoft account before, we recommend doing so now. Then go ahead and install any available updates. There may be more than a few, so it is better to end this now.
In Settings, you can also join the Windows Insider Program. This is fun if you want to take a look at the beta features that Microsoft is testing, but if you don’t like living on the edge, you can skip it.
Now it’s time to start customizing your operating system with a few basic adjustments. First, go to Exhibition and activate Night light mode for the color temperature of the screen to adjust to dusk and sunrise. Then go to Notifications and Alerts to disable annoying tips from Microsoft on how to get the most out of Windows or anything else. Jump to Store and activate Storage direction to keep your system clean. After installing your essential applications, click Taskbar settings and select “Select which icons appear on the taskbar” to keep things organized. Under Apps, select Start to choose which applications start automatically when you boot your machine (keep this to a minimum for obvious reasons).
