Here is your Dawning ‘Destiny 2’ community event overflowing bounty

Well, I suppose it is appropriate that the Destiny 2 Dawning Community event ended on the morning of New Year’s Day, and players will be waking up to find their prize waiting for them, regardless of how much work they have done to get 1 billion Dawning Spirit.

The rewards are, of course, a kind of disappointment. I adjusted my expectations down as more prizes were revealed, but still, it hurts that there is simply nothing new or relevant released here as the final “Overflowing” reward.

So, here is the list of prizes:

• An Ascending Fragment
• A random piece of exotic armor (I have an eyebrow from 62 Verity’s stats on my Warlock)
• A random Dawning weapon (I have a bad Cold Front)
• 2-3 random old cosmetics (I have an exotic sparrow and a ghost projection)
• One of this year’s “joke” gifts (I won the Guardian Fund)
• The new shader you claim from the triumph of completing the event (not great)

Sigh.

I mean, basically it’s the whole meme “Dead Dove, Do Not Eat,“ I don’t know what I expected ”. I knew that no, there probably wouldn’t be anything important to fall for a prize here, and yet I was possibly hoping to be surprised. An exotic catalyst, any exotic catalyst, was what I really expected, which would make all this noise worthwhile, but a single fragment and a random exotic just won’t do that.

The problem is that it sets the standard for future community events, which everyone will assume the reward won’t be worth, so why bother. This will result in less participation, more potential for increasing Bungie so that we don’t fail and the cycle repeats itself. Even one moderately An interesting prize would make it appear that anything could be possible at future community events like this, but no, just what I would consider the least.

It’s not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, I suppose, and it’s been people like me promoting this event more than Bungie herself, but I was just hoping for something that would really motivate and excite the community, and that’s it , as they say.

I find it ironic that the best way to generate the Dawning Spirit for this event is to run the Legend Lost sectors quickly, where a frequent prize is … a random exotic, and here we have one not married one of the final prize here. I suppose an Ascending Fragment is always useful for buying a single exotic kiosk or for making a masterpiece out of a legendary piece of armor, but I wouldn’t have said no to like it, 3-5 of them, as it wouldn’t have hurt economy.
