DHEC announces Thursday numbers

DHEC on Wednesday announced 686 new confirmed cases and 11 additional confirmed deaths in South Carolina. This brings the total number of confirmed cases to 159,433 and confirmed deaths to 3,487.

The total number of individual test results reported to DHEC yesterday across the state was 5,787 (not including antibody tests) and the positive percentage was 11.9%.

Greenville County led the state in new cases, with 82.

DHEC reminds Southern Carolinians to be cautious on Halloween

The DHEC of SC recommends external events, non-contact and low risk of disease transmission.

Drive-through events, one-way haunted trails, outdoor pumpkin plantations and creative methods of distributing sweets can all be safe alternatives to celebrate.

“This is not the year for traditional trick or treating, haunted houses and costume parties,” said Dr. Michael Kacka, physician and medical director at DHEC. “COVID-19 continues to have a high prevalence in our state and many traditional Halloween activities, unfortunately, are high-risk activities, as they include close personal contact and interaction with people outside your home.”

  • Until yesterday, 1,796,582 examinations were carried out in the state.
  • The total number of individual test results reported to DHEC yesterday across the state was 5,787 (not including antibody tests), the positive percentage was 11.9%.
  • The United States Department of Agriculture has granted Greenville County Schools an exemption that will allow the district to provide all students with free meals for the rest of the 2020-21 school year.
