DHEC reports 197 new cases, 21 deaths
The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control announced on Wednesday 197 new confirmed cases and 53 new probable cases of the new coronavirus COVID-19, 21 additional confirmed deaths and a new probable death.
As of Wednesday, South Carolina had 143,623 confirmed cases, 4,319 probable cases, 3,186 confirmed deaths and 192 probable deaths.
Of the 4,007 test results reported Tuesday to DHEC, 13.2% were positive.

- In its press release on Monday afternoon, DHEC clarified information about the results of the Clemson University tests.
- As of Tuesday, there were 259 students from Clemson University in the campus quarantine facility, according to the school’s COVID-19 data panel.
- Clemson spokesman Joe Galbraith said the university’s leaders are confident that capacity is not at the limit, but declined to give a percentage of how many beds were left for students to quarantine.
- The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control reported 527 new confirmed cases and 22 additional confirmed deaths on Tuesday.
