DHEC Announces 641 New Confirmed Cases for Monday

The state Department of Health and Environmental Control reported 641 new confirmed cases and 7 new deaths across the state on Monday. The agency also reported 345 new probable cases.

Of the 22,454 results of the COVID-19 test reported by DHEC on Monday, 4.4% were positive.

Greenville County has had 104 new confirmed cases of the new coronavirus. The most populous of the state’s 46 counties, Greenville accounts for 10.2% of the state’s population according to Census estimates, and accounted for 16.2% of confirmed cases reported on Monday.

The state’s cumulative total is now 467,750 confirmed cases, and there were 8,111 confirmed deaths. In addition, there were 88,719 probable cases and 1,092 probable deaths.

The municipality of Pickens, which accounts for 2.5% of the state’s population, accounted for 4.0% (26) of the cases announced on Monday.

Spartanburg, which accounts for 6.2% of the state’s population, accounted for 5.3% (34) of new cases, and Anderson, who accounts for 6.4% of the population, for 2.3% (15) of cases .

SC reaches the milestone of the COVID vaccine

Although the Southern Carolinians exceeded 2 million vaccinations for COVID-19 last week, state health officials have warned that an increase in post-Easter Easter cases is still possible.
