The next season of Apex Legends is bringing a series of additions to Battle Royale, and more than just a new legend and a revised Kings Canyon.
As usual, Respawn is adjusting the loot pile on the floor to accommodate the new accessories by exchanging a hop-up and accessory, but the weapons in the care package will remain the same.
Here’s what’s changing, what’s not, and why:
Weapon Pack
ApexThe care package’s weapon pool will not undergo any changes in season eight. “We want Prowler to stay in the maintenance package, really give him some time to settle there,” game designer Eric Canavese told Dot Esports. This means that the three supply drop weapons are still the Prowler, Peacekeeper and Kraber. The Mastiff and R-99 will still spawn normally on the floor.
In addition, Respawn wants to “let the 30-30 come in and see how it changes the goal” before making any changes, said Canavese. “We will [change care package weapons] if we think it is the right time to do this and if the goal responds well to it. “
The last batch of changes to the service pack’s serve occurred in season seven, when the R-99 moved to serve from the ground and the Prowler took its place.
Ground loot
Despite the absence of changes in the care package falls, the floor loot pool will undergo some adjustments. Anvil Receiver will return to Battle Royale and take the place of the Double Tap Trigger hop-up, compatible only with the G7 Scout and EVA-8. Gold barrel stabilizers are also out of the question this season to make room for new gold magazines. And, of course, there’s a completely new weapon in the mix: the 30-30 Repeater.
ApexThe newest weapon from “will be somewhere between the Longbow and the G7 Scout” with “a little Wingman there to be sure,” according to Canavese. It has two shooting modes: faster shots, without aiming and a loaded projectile when aiming. Because it is a lever-action weapon, firing at 30-30 offers a cadenced burst of single-shot fire – and changes in looting on the ground mean creating alternatives to the new weapon.
Anvil Receiver’s return aims to create fun and interesting gameplay around the new weapon, the 30-30 Repeater, according to Canavese. The hop-up increases the damage of the R-301 and the Flatline’s unique firing mode at the expense of ammunition consumption.
“We don’t want to have 30 to 30 fights all the time,” said Canavese. “We want other weapons that can compete with him to have interesting combat moments and interesting options for people to run.”
Gold barrel stabilizers will also be out of season eight to give gold deposits their place in the spotlight. Gold items are hard to find and simply adding a new attachment can overwhelm the pool.
Yet, ApexMayhem’s eighth season will not make many adjustments to the serve pile when it arrives tomorrow. But the arrival of the 30-30, the addition of gold combs and the return of the Anvil Receiver are bound to shake things up.
