Okay, let’s get straight to the point. Hennessey is now offering a new HPE1000 update for the McLaren 765LT. For those who are familiar with Mr. Hennessey’s naming strategies, this means that we are about to see 765LTs with 1,000 bhp.
You can check out our full analysis of the 765 long tail by clicking on these words in blue. Spoiler alert – we didn’t want him to have more than 200 bhp.
Although, Hennessey says that when he tested his donor car on a dynamometer, the 765LT was not producing the 755bhp that McLaren says it should. Instead, the fully standard car was getting close to 865bhp. Conservative, too?
Either way, this means that the HPE1000 update simply includes new air filters, a remapped ECU and an updated stainless steel hood. It also costs only $ 24,950 (about £ 18,000), which should be a change if you just bought a 765LT. And if you’re a little broke, why not avoid the MSO option of specifying carbon fiber door and rear bumper panels? This will save £ 30,000.
Oh, and if you need more convincing, the Hennessey-adjusted 765LT will do 0-60 mph in 2.1 seconds. That would wake you up.
So, what do we think of the Internet? And where would you take your (fictional, probably) 765LT – Hennessey or Novitec?
