Helen explained that although they were married in the ’30s and beyond’, they really didn’t have a chance to spend that much time together.

She said, ‘In all that time [their marriage] due to the nature of our work, we have always been looking at bags, to pack.

‘We literally never spent so much time together. [The year] it could have been disastrous, but it was actually fantastic.

“It has been really great to have what most people have. You know, normal, regular and repetitive lives, but comfortable lives. ‘

Helen said that “aging gracefully” should mean “accepting who you are” as opposed to plastic surgery.

She told The Mirror: ‘I’m old! And I see that. And that’s fine. ‘

Helen said she does not know what “aging gracefully” means, but it seems to mean not having plastic surgery.

She added: “It seems that we have reached a point where it means not having plastic surgery, although I should have thought that there would be more than that. For me, it’s more about accepting who you are and what you are and moving on.

‘Obviously I try to look as beautiful as I can – and I would love to look 20 years younger. But I don’t and I never will. ‘
