Heisman winner DeVonta Smith rejects weight / height measurements in the Senior Bowl

MOBILE, Alabama – Alabama wide receiver DeVonta Smith, winner of the Heisman 2020 Trophy and one of the top contenders in the 2021 NFL Draft, refused to be weighed or measured at the time of Reese’s Senior Bowl weigh-in on Tuesday morning, but intends to do it in Crimson Tide’s professional training this spring.

Size is the sole concern of the scouts at Smith; it was listed as 6 ft-1 and 175 pounds on the Alabama list. The decision is highly unusual for weighing in the Senior Bowl, but it does give Smith more time to add weight while training for the professional day. Smith presented hand (9 3/8 inch), arm (31 1/2) and wingspan (78 1/2) measurements.

After hurting a finger in Alabama’s 52-24 victory over Ohio in the College Football Playoff national championship game, Smith will also not be competing in training or this week’s game at the annual all-star event. An exceptional runner with strong, safe hands and a proven ability to make contested catches, Smith was designed to be selected as the overall No. 6 for the Philadelphia Eagles in the initial draft by NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah for 2021.

Smith took 117 passes for 1,856 yards and 23 touchdowns as a senior, including a 12-215-3 performance in just the first half of the title game against the Buckeyes.
