Heavy storms on Tuesday night, rain / snow on Wednesday

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Meteorologist Peyton Sanders says we will have a break from the rain during the day on Tuesday, before another storm system brings widespread rain and even some snow from Tuesday night to Wednesday.

Irregular areas of fog will be possible during the night until Tuesday morning, otherwise the sky will be partly cloudy on Tuesday afternoon. High temperatures will reach the mid-1960s in most of the state, but it will be colder in northern Kansas at 40 and 50.

Rain and thunderstorms will start to develop after Tuesday night’s dusk and will spread by Wednesday morning. Some severe storms will be possible in southern Kansas with a threat of hail and damaging gusts of wind.

Part of the rain will begin to turn to snow in western Kansas on Tuesday night and continue until Wednesday. Some accumulations of light snow will be possible mainly in western Kansas.

Winds will be very gusty from north and northwest on Wednesday, with gusts of 30 to 50 mph at times. There will likely be rain throughout the day, with some damp snowflakes possibly blending into central Kansas on Wednesday night.

The storm system will be removed on Wednesday night, leaving us with dry weather for the rest of the week.
