One of Meghan Markle’s dearest friends, pilates instructor Heather Dorak, took to social media in defense of the Duchess in light of the growing scrutiny of the tabloids she is facing before her and Prince Harry’s revealing interview with Oprah Winfrey.
“It’s hard for me to see her go through everything she has to go through as Meghan that the press may love to hate,” Dorak started posting on Instagram. “Mainly because it is so far from Meghan that I know it. Candy. Gentle. Always showing up! Two weeks ago, she was the first to surprise me with a gift after my knee surgery. 17 years ago, she entered my fledgling Pilates studio and instantly became my rock in the early 1920s – career, love, discovering how to be an adult. Since that day, she has never ceased to be one of my brightest light sources. “
She continued: “It may be difficult to see, but she lives for the small and thoughtful things – flowers for no reason, a random handwritten sweet note. She was always truly wonderful … M, I love you. “
Dorak’s feelings echo those of model Chrissy Teigen, who also came to Markle’s defense, suggesting that the negative attention she is receiving can have dire consequences for the pregnant public figure.
“This Meghan Markle s – t is too close to home for me,” Teigen tweeted Friday. “These people are not going to stop until she aborts. P-king, stop it. “
Buckingham Palace has announced its intention to investigate allegations of bullying made against Markle by a former employee, even when others in Markle’s past have rushed to her defense.
Pauline Maclaran, author of “Royal Fever: The British Monarchy in Consumer Culture”, said this week that the next CBS special for Duke and Duchess is “a greater danger than Prince Andrew’s interview in a car accident”.
“I think Meghan is going to get a lot of sympathy, especially from the American public, for her position being unsustainable,” said Maclaran.
