Hearthstone’s new expansion is about beloved World of Warcraft Barrens

In the next Hearthstone the expansion is on its way and brings the collectible card game back to one of World of Warcraftmost iconic zones. Forged in the Barrens is an expansion with 135 new cards that takes place in the Barrens Horde area, just outside the orc city of Orgrimmar.

Forged in the Barrens brings a new keyword to the game: Frenzy. Frenzy cards have a unique effect that is activated the first time a minion survives the damage.

Barrens is where Trolls, Orcs and Tauren spend their time leveling up, and the area is famous for being absolutely huge, making missions like finding Mankrik’s wife very dangerous. Add a chaotic general chat, and Barrens remains a highlight of the classic World of Warcraft experience. As this is a Horde-centered expansion, the new cards will feature characters like the shadow-hunting troll Vol’jin.

Forged in the Barrens comes alongside a large set of changes for Hearthstone. There is a new “Core Set” that replaces the Basic and Classic sets. The Main Set is a mix of cards from previous expansions, rebalanced cards popular with the community and some new cards like Ysera, the Dreamer or Malygos, the Sorcerer. HearthstoneThe Core Set is completely free and simple for players to pick up and play. The original version of the remastered cards will be available, along with the new variants, in the game’s barrier-free Wild mode.

There are also new spell schools, with all the various spells in the game being organized into Arcane, Fire, Ice, Holy, Nature, Shadow and Fel. This will “expand the possibilities for casting spells Hearthstone players and will be added retroactively to previously released spell cards. “
