Hearing that I was fired by Jets is “new to me”

Jets coach Adam Gase said on Wednesday that he was not informed by Jets’ estate that he will be fired after Sunday’s end of the season against the Patriots.

There was a WFAN report on Tuesday that said Jets’ property told Gase he would be fired.

“That was news to me,” said Gase. “Nobody said that to me.”

Although Gase was not informed of the decision, it is expected that Jets CEO and President Christopher Johnson will fire Gase after the game against the Patriots. Gase is 9-22 in two years as a team coach.

Gase said he is not focusing on his work status.

“I probably learned when I was 22 that Nick Saban told me that you do your job until someone tells you something different,” said Gase. “This is what I’m going to focus on. My job is to get ready to go this Sunday and try to win a game. ”

The Jets won two consecutive games after a 0-13 start. The Jets’ attack has been terrible under Gase, whose track record is the offensive side of the ball. Gase was asked if he is concerned that his reputation as an attacking coach suffered from the fact that the Jets were number 32 in the NFL attack for the second straight season.

“I don’t know if worry is really the right word,” said Gase. “It’s just … I mean, it pisses me off. If there is one side of the ball that I want to make sure is right, this is it. It didn’t happen and that’s on me ”.
