Healthcare worker fired after deliberately spoiling vaccines, says Wisconsin health care system

A Wisconsin health care system says that 500 doses of coronavirus vaccine that had to be discarded after not being refrigerated now appear to have been deliberately spoiled by an employee.

Aurora Medical Center reported for the first time about the spoiled doses on Saturday, and said they were accidentally left out overnight by an Aurora Medical Center employee in Grafton.

In a statement on Wednesday, Aurora said the official involved “today acknowledged that he intentionally removed the vaccine from refrigeration”.

Aurora’s testimony says they fired the employee and referred the matter to authorities for investigation.

Their statement did not address a possible reason for the action, and health care workers did not immediately respond to messages.
