Health workers trapped in snow administer coronavirus vaccine to trapped drivers

CNN's analysis suggests that 12% - and even a third - of the U.S. population may currently have some protection against Covid-19

Public health officials in Josephine County were returning from a mass vaccination clinic at Illinois Valley High School in Cave Junction when about 20 members of the group were trapped in a snowstorm in Hayes Hill, the agency said.

They had six remaining doses of the vaccine with them.

To prevent these doses from being left unused before expiring, workers went from car to car to offer people a chance to have an injection, the health department said.

An ambulance was waiting nearby, in case any receiver had an adverse reaction.

Health care workers in southwestern Oregon administered trapped drivers six doses of the Covid-19 vaccine that were about to expire.

All six doses were administered to chased drivers, including a sheriff’s office worker who intended to be at the previous mass vaccination event, but was trapped in the snow, the health department said.

Oregon received more than 100,000 doses of the Pfizer and Moderna Covid-19 vaccines last week, according to the state’s coronavirus center. The state is still in Phase 1 of its vaccine implantation, and health professionals and teachers were the first to obtain it.
