It’s been 25 years since a young Matthew McConaughey starred alongside Samuel L. Jackson and Sandra Bullock in Joel Schumacher’s court drama Time to kill, based on the 1989 John Grisham novel of the same name. According Variety, a Real detective The actor will star in the possible adaptation of HBO for the second sequence of the novel, currently under development on the network. The book, A time of mercy, was published last October.
The original novel follows McConaughey’s attorney in Missouri, Jake Brigance, as he defends a black father who killed two white men who brutally raped his daughter, facing an all-white jury and the Ku Klux Klan. Now Brigance must defend a teenager who shot his mother’s abusive boyfriend, the city’s deputy sheriff. The character also appeared in Grisham’s Sycamore Row, published in 2013.
