HBO says that six Woody Allen films available for streaming on HBO Max will remain in service after some online have called on the streamer to host these films along with the new docuseries “Allen v. Farrow ”.
“These titles will remain available in the library to allow viewers to make their own informed decisions about showing the work,” said HBO in a statement to TheWrap.
“Allen v. Farrow, ”which debuted on HBO on Sunday and for streaming on HBO Max, examines Dylan Farrow’s accusations of sexual abuse against his adoptive father Allen. Others online then noticed that six films, including five starring Mia Farrow, are available on the streamer. Although the films are not shown or promoted prominently, the films available for broadcast by HBO Max to those looking for them are “Scoop”, “Broadway Danny Rose”, “Shadows and Fog”, “Radio Days”, “Another Woman” and “September”.

“The whites’ privilege is to allow Woody Allen to keep his films on display at HBO MAX, while now showing a documentary about his alleged sexual abuse,” Ernest Media Empire journalist Ernest Owens said in a tweet. “He is collecting a check, while being exposed on the same platform. Gross. “
“Which one the algorithm recommends after watching the series of documents,” said another Twitter user.
Whether films or shows by troubled creators should remain on broadcast or streaming services is a discussion that has become big in the entertainment world, with many recognizing that films in particular are a collaborative art form, and erasing or censoring a film it also removes the work of dozens of other actors and professionals.
Allen v. Farrow directors Kirby Dick and Amy Ziering were also asked about this particular dilemma with HBO Max in an interview with Variety published on Monday, as the film also makes a connection between one of the most famous films Allen’s “Manhattan” and Allen’s supposed behavior film.
“We talked about this in episode 4; we deepen the decisions that people must make about the consumption of products. It is something that many people speak against. And that’s also why we want people to think and reflect on it, ”said Ziering. “I think there’s a lot of art out there with a complicated biographical background. We invite people to make their own decisions ”.

The series brings together court documents, interviews and home videos made by his mother, Mia Farrow, including tapes where his 7-year-old Dylan tells of having been sexually abused by Allen in an attic-like area of his Connecticut home in 1992 The series reexamines Dylan’s account, both as a child and now as an adult, and the custody battle that broke out between his parents after he became romantically involved with Farrow’s daughter Soon-Yi Previn.
Allen has long denied Dylan’s accusations; he was never charged with a crime after two criminal investigations into the matter. On Sunday, he and Previn released their own statement about the series, calling it “a hatchet job riddled with lies”.
“These documentarians were not interested in the truth. Instead, they spent years surreptitiously collaborating with the Farrows and their facilitators to set up an ax job riddled with falsehoods, ”the statement said. “Woody and Soon-Yi were approached less than two months ago and had only a few days to ‘respond’. Of course, they refused to do so. “
“Allen v. Farrow ”debuted on Sunday night on HBO at 9 pm ET / PT. Episodes 2-4 will air on the following Sundays at the same time.
