Issa Rae’s Insecure will return to HBO for a fifth and final season, the network announced. The popular Emmy nominated series aired its fourth season in 2020; the premiere date of its final season has yet to be revealed.
“Issa has transformed insecurity into an iconic form of comedy,” said HBO executive vice president Amy Gravitt in a press release. “The show is as incisive as it is sincere and has resonated strongly with its audience because of the deeply personal work that Issa, Prentice, Melina, the cast and the writers put into it. This talented team has designed a brilliant final season for Insecure and we hope to have many more stories to tell with this unique group of employees. ”
Rae partnered with Atlantic Records to launch his own label in October 2019. That same month, it was announced that she was working on a new comedy series for HBO Max called Rap Sh * tfollowing a female rap group from South Florida. She and Jordan Peele are also co-producing a film entitled Hole.
