Hawley criticizes Honoré’s “outrageous” nomination: “He has nothing to do with leading a security review”

Senator Josh Hawley, R-Mo., Expressed strong opposition on Tuesday to the choice of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, of retired Lieutenant General Russel Honoré to lead the US Capitol security investigation following the 6-month attack. January by a pro Trump mob.

Hawley told Tucker Carlson Tonight that the idea of Honoré being named to lead the security review is “absolutely outrageous”.

“This is a guy who did what we saw liberals do over and over again – he blamed the police first,” said Hawley. “He had no facts, no idea what really happened and is out there blaming the police and saying that she is an accomplice, who helped the protesters.

“It is absolutely outrageous, but if you look at his story, he has repeatedly blamed the police, criticized the police who were responding to protesters all last summer.”

Honoré is known for his role in responding to Hurricane Katrina and, more recently, has made appearances on cable news that often criticize Republicans. That, and some of his comments on social media, have drawn criticism from high-profile Republicans that Honoré may not be the best person for the job.

Honoré’s previous comments, which Hawley described as “totally crazy”, were highlighted for the first time in an earlier segment of “Tucker Carlson Tonight”.

“It is someone without business, without business, leading a security review,” he told Carlson.

Hawley was specifically called in a tweet from Honoré asking that he be deleted.
