Hawaii health officials today reported three new coronavirus-related deaths and 106 new infections, bringing the state’s total since the start of the pandemic to 312 deaths and 23,733 cases.

No additional details were immediately available on the latest coronavirus-related deaths.

The official number of coronavirus-related deaths in the state includes 244 deaths on Oahu, 45 on the island of Hawaii, 19 on Maui, one on Kauai and three Hawaii residents who died on the mainland.

The number of coronavirus deaths in the USA was over 381,000 today, with the total number of coronavirus cases across the country reaching 22.9 million.

New cases of infection across the state reported by the Department of Health include 73 on Oahu, 11 on Maui, seven on Ilha Grande, two on Kauai and 13 state residents diagnosed outside Hawaii, officials said.

The statistics released today reflect the new cases of infection reported to the department on Monday.

The total number of coronavirus cases per island since the outbreak started is 19,462 in Oahu, 2,037 in Hawaii County, 1,342 in Maui, 169 in Kauai, 106 in Lanai and 25 in Molokai. There are also 592 Hawaii residents diagnosed outside the state.

Hawaii health officials said today that of the state’s total infection count, 2,292 cases were considered active. Health officials say they regard infections reported in the past 14 days as a “proxy number for active cases”. The number of active cases in the state has decreased by 13 today.

By island, Oahu has 1,690 active cases, Maui has 414, Ilha Grande has 164 and Kauai has 24, according to the state’s latest count. Lanai has no active COVID cases.

Health officials counted 4,819 new results from the COVID-19 test in today’s count, for a positivity rate of 2.20% across the state. The state’s 7-day average positivity rate is 3.2%, according to the Hawaii COVID-19 data panel.

Of all confirmed Hawaii infection cases, 1,580 required hospitalizations, with 19 new hospitalizations reported today by state health officials.

Four hospitalizations in the state count are Hawaii residents who have been diagnosed and treated outside the state. Of the 1,576 hospitalizations in the state, 1,390 occurred in Oahu, 92 in Ilha Grande, 81 in Maui, seven in Kauai, five in Lanai and one in Molokai.

According to the latest information from the Department of Hawaii’s COVID-19 data panel, a total of 116 patients with the virus were in hospitals in Hawaii at 8:30 am today, 26 in intensive care units and 22 in ventilators.

State health officials began to disclose the total number of vaccines administered across the state. To date, the department said 40,386 individuals had been vaccinated – including 25,613 in Honolulu County, 4,182 in Maui County, 4,251 in Hawaii County and 2,740 in Kauai County. Vaccination numbers are updated weekly.

Oahu moved to the less restrictive level 2 of Honolulu’s four-level economic recovery plan on October 22. To assess whether Honolulu will be moved to a different level, the city conducts a “weekly assessment” of two main COVID-19 numbers each Wednesday. To move to Level 3 from Level 2, the average 7 days of new cases must be less than 50 on two consecutive Wednesdays. In addition, the average 7-day positivity rate should be less than 2.5% on those two Wednesdays.

The seven-day average Oahu case count is 137 and the seven-day average positivity rate is 4.1%, according to Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi, who said last week that Oahu will remain at Level two.
