Hawaii developing coronavirus vaccine passports to facilitate travel: report

Hawaii is developing a program that can allow anyone who is fully vaccinated to visit the state of the island without being quarantined.

People who have received the full dose of a coronavirus vaccine will receive an electronic code – a vaccine passport – that allows them to travel between islands, according to Hawaii News Now.

This vaccine passport is expected to be distributed to essential workers who are fully vaccinated first, Lt. Governor Josh Green told the station. This may already be on March 1st.

Fully vaccinated travelers from the continent could obtain their vaccine passports by May 1, Green told Hawaii News Now.

“This is how we restore our economy very quickly,” said Green. “We would probably see a big increase in the number of visitors, say, the drop this way.”
