Hasbro unveils new STAR WARS figures to celebrate Lucasfilm’s 50th anniversary. Sequel Trilogy IS MISSING?

Jar Jar Binks gets a new action figure to celebrate Lucasfilm’s 50th birthday, but Rey doesn’t. This is cold, Hasbro.

“Where’s Rey?” indeed.

Hasbro Pulse is celebrating Lucasfilm’s 50th anniversary with a newly announced series of Star Wars: The Black Series figures. The announcement was made during the Fan First Friday event, and includes everything from the Prequel Trilogy to the Original Trilogy, and Clone Wars and Rebels.

But what’s interestingly missing are the Disney Star Wars character ads Sequel Trilogy.

Hmm.

The first are Episode I figures in packaging from the 1990s. The initial wave includes Quin-Gon Jinn, Mace Windu, Jar Jar Binks it is a Battle Droid. They appear to be exclusive to Best Buy and are in pre-order now.

Good to see The phantom threat getting some love in the form of a toy. But what kind of bizarre world are we living in when The phantom threat wins toys at Disney Sequel Trilogy to celebrate Lucasfilm’s 50th anniversary?

(Oh, right, maybe it’s because George Lucas didn’t sign the Disney sequels. Or that Sequel’s toys almost destroyed the Star Wars toy franchise.)

The figures that really move me are the Kenner-style retro figures celebrating the Original Trilogy. We have Ben (Obi-Wan) Kenobi with a plastic cover and a Jawa swinging a cloth cloak. This in addition to Greedo, Kenner style. Now, if we could get a Hammerhead, Walrus Man and Snaggletooth to go straight to Kenner Cantina.

These numbers are pre-sold on Amazon and are considered exclusive to Amazon. They can be pre-ordered here.

There were also new figures for the Vintage line, including Endor Leia and Paploo the Ewok.

In the future, Hasbro will release more numbers from Star Wars: The Bad Batch and The Mandalorian. Two different versions of Lando Calrissian are also in progress.

But apparently no mention of any Sequel Trilogy characters. Still.

Up until Ahsoka Tano and Darth Maul “Filoni-verse” will be celebrating Lucasfilm’s 50th anniversary.

But Rey will not be.

it is possible that Hasbro will eventually release some figures from the sequel era to help celebrate.

But it’s also very possible that they won’t, given that many Sequel Trilogy figures can still be obtained for years cheap after its release.
