Harry Styles says he makes his WORST music when he’s ‘trying his best’

He had a huge solo success with his debut single and eponymous first album reaching number one, while his second album Fine Line reached its 60th week on the charts.

But former One Direction star Harry Styles has revealed that the secret behind his musical triumphs is not to ‘try your best’ when it comes to writing songs.

Meanwhile, 27-year-old hitmaker Watermelon Sugar admitted that he is still shocked that fans still pay to see him at a concert, despite the fact that he has won many followers as part of the best-selling boy band of all time.

Speaking to SiriusXM radio in America, Harry opened up about his music making process, explaining how he is most successful when he doesn’t put in so much effort.

He said, ‘I’ve always done my worst song when I’m trying my best and when it seems a little too easy and a little safe and it’s like, “oh yeah, that’s what people want …” I write this.’

He continued: ‘I try to write music like a music fan. I really don’t know how else to do that, I think. Ultimately, everyone who works with music is just a fan.

‘As if I’m just a music fan and can do some, then I try to make it from that perspective.’

The Sign Of The Times hitmaker added of his second album, Fine Line – which reached number two and has been on the charts since its release in December: ‘The process of making that album seemed free.’

Harry gained fame as a competitor on The X Factor in 2010, joining as a solo artist before forming One Direction with Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson.

The group landed four singles in first place and 14 in the UK Top 10 before going on an indefinite hiatus in 2016.

But despite his dominance of the group on the charts and eventually his success as a solo artist, Harry admitted that he still can’t believe people want to pay to see him live on stage.

He said: ‘When I went out to do shows alone, I was surprised that people were coming to see me’.

But the star then told how his confidence in himself began to grow after he ‘felt accepted by the crowd’.

Since then, Harry has started acting, with his most recent role in the upcoming film Don’t Worry Darling, even giving him a romance with the film’s director, Hollywood actress Olivia Wilde, 36.

He comes amid reports that Harry and Olivia’s ex-husband Jason Sudeikis is set to have a showdown when he and Olivia arrive in the UK from the USA

DailyMail.com recently reported that the Booksmart singer and director is due to move to England soon, now that the film Don’t Worry Darling has ended.

According to reports on Friday, Harry and Jason, 45, may meet during their time in the UK, as Olivia will be reunited with her children, son Otis, six, and daughter Daisy, four, who are staying there with your father.

Sudeikis is currently in London while shooting the second season of Ted Lasso, so they will be meeting soon.

A source speaking to The Sun said: ‘Obviously things are still in their early days – they’ve been dating properly since last November, but things have been happening fast since they went public together at their manager’s wedding.

‘The latest change could also mean that they will all end up seeing each other, as Jason is in London filming his Apple TV sitcom Ted Lasso and currently has his children with Olivia staying with him, so there will undoubtedly be some cross between them.

– It will certainly be interesting, given the way things have been so far, but nothing is getting in the way of Olivia and Harry now.

The publication stated that Harry’s new film will possibly begin production in the same studio where Jason is currently working, which could also lead to an impromptu meeting between the two.
