Harnish Triples, Magahey goes 1: 36.8 200 free as UGA Flattens South Carolina

Georgia handled the visiting Gamecock women, trebling three different strokes from the senior standout Courtney Harnish.

South Carolina attacked first, in what would end up being one of their only victories, taking the 200 medley relay in 1: 40.27 ahead of UGA 1: 40.26. South Carolina freshman Bella Pantano was 25.82 leading, well ahead of Georgia Callie Dickinson (26.73), and Taylor Steele (27.64) was virtually tied with UGA breasts Zoie Hartman (27.64). Gamecock Janie Smith was 24.18, returning one tenth to UGA Harnish (24.08), and Emma Alexander (22.63) pushed the freshman Bulldog away Maxine Parker (22.00) to give South Carolina the initial lead.

Between the medley relay and the first dive break, however, the UGA took control, without giving up on an event. Harnish was the star of the Bulldogs today, winning three individual victories. She recovered 100 points for the first time (54.33) in a tight victory over Pantano (54.94), as Pantano obtained only 0.3% of his best mark. Harnish left the dive break with a win of 49.45 in the 100 free, and in the penultimate individual pool event, she took the 100 fly (53.33).

Parker won victories in the 50 freestyle (22.58) and 200 freestyle (1: 48.64) and Hartman won the 100 breast (1: 00.34) as part of the initial UGA streak.

The Gamecocks fought in the latter part of the match, however. This included consecutive wins after the free Harnish 100 victory: Mari Kraus led a 1-2 finish on the 200 backs (1: 58.51) with Erynn Black (2: 00.46), while Steele dominated the chest 200 (2: 16.07).

Georgian Diver Tally Brown swept both exchanges, and Parker (49.69) and Hartman (49.59) led the 400 free relay to victory, with UGA taking the victory by duel. Notably, star / IMer breasts Danielle Dellatorre and Gabi Fa’amausili there were no appearances at this meeting for UGA.

The UGA men had no trouble overthrowing South Carolina, achieving a medley relay victory with a 1: 27.80.

After that, the Bulldogs went 1-2-3 in the 1000 free, 200 free and 100 behind. In the 200 free, Jake Magahey took the victory for more than a second, posting a 1: 36.88. On his debut in Georgia, after joining the semester break, the Hong Kong national Wesley Ng sharp Javier Acevedo (48.28) and Camden Murphy (48.77) in the 100 backs, scoring 48.19.

Magahey added another win at the free 500, posting a 4: 27.09 as UGA successfully completed another 1-2-3 scan. In the 50 free, Magahey ended up drawing for the first time with that of South Carolina AJ Ross (20.53). It would be the Gamecocks’ only victory today.

Murphy, although shown, was the best finisher on 100 flights with 47.55, and on 200 flights, was Andrew Abruzzo (1: 47,16). Abruzzo also took the 400 IM, going 3: 52.58. Jack Dalmolin was another double winner for the Bulldogs, joining Magahey. Dalmolin took both breast tests, going to 55.08 on 100 and 2: 00.27 on 200; South Carolina Jordan Yip was just behind Dalmolin, scoring 2:00,67 for the second.

The UGA won the 400 free relay with its B relay at 2:59:59, with South Carolina’s A having an anchor of 44.1 Phil Costin and reaching a second of the Bulldogs. Freshman georgia Luca Urlando it was a notable absence for UGA men today.
