The days of Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell in the lead will be numbered if he allows minority leader Chuck Schumer, DN.Y. freedom to litigate President Trump’s impeachment, Sean Hannity said on Tuesday.
“In November, the president won more votes than any other Republican in the history of our great republic, almost 75 million across the country,” the host of “Hannity” told viewers. “The future minority leader, Mitch McConnell, and a handful of other longtime Republicans are trying to reaffirm control of the Republican Party, and their handbook is, unfortunately, predictable.
“Instead of taking on the mantle and promoting the president’s bold agenda for America First, they are shrinking with fear, withering under pressure from the media crowd, liberal Democrats and high-tech companies,” he continued. “Many Republicans with no personality are joining forces with their Democratic friends to repudiate all things about Trump.”
On Tuesday, McConnell said in comments on the Senate floor that the January 6 riot on Capitol Hill, in which five people died, was “provoked” by the president and “other powerful people”.

“So, Mitch McConnell, I’m all ears,” replied Hannity. “Tell the American people exactly what part of the president’s speech did you consider violent. Was that when he urged his followers to march peacefully and patriotically to the capital so that their voices could be heard?
“Do you like this ‘instant impeachment’ process? Do you think it’s complete, just and constitutional? Do you think it’s fair? And you think you want to validate what the Chamber of Deputies did in a week, without even knowing those people that apparently, we are discovering, were part of a well-orchestrated plan to motivate people to do this and get involved in it? “

Hannity concluded that McConnell “would have more credibility now, with his new eagerness to reestablish the Republican moderates and the institutional wing of the party and to repudiate President Trump if he were consistent. But, ultimately, that’s why Americans voted for Donald. Trump and not 17 other established Republicans [in 2016]. “
The presenter reminded viewers that “freedom is a fragile thing. It is never more than a generation from extinction. This cannot, my fellow citizens, happen under our supervision. Do you know why? Because our children and grandchildren deserve better, and Mitch McConnell, if you’re not going to fight, we deserve better. “
