King of Fans, the Fort Lauderdale-based manufacturer of 54-inch (54-inch) Mara 54-inch ceiling fans and Hampton Bay inmates, released the recall on December 23 after receiving 47 reports of blades standing out from the product, including two reports where loose blades hit consumers and four reports where loose fan blades caused material damage.

The company said in a press release that the ceiling fan malfunction was caused by “an isolated manufacturing defect with the mounting of the fan blades locking clip on the fan flywheel, where one of the two screws holding the clamp lock is not properly attached to the steering wheel. “

The fans were sold at Home Depot stores across the country and online at homedepot.com between April and October 2020 for about $ 150. About 182,000 of them were sold in the United States and 8,800 were sold in Canada.

The fans come with an integrated LED light that changes white color and remote control.

A Home Depot spokesman told FOX Business that about 80,000 of the fans were sold before they were removed from stores. After discovering the problem, the retailer “voluntarily recalled the product and stopped sales”.

“We are committed to the safety and quality of our products,” added the spokesman.
