Halsey subtly changes gender pronouns in the social to “she / they”
Without any fanfare or explanation, Halsey – who is currently expecting her first child – just updated her biographies on social media to let fans know that the pop star now uses the pronouns “she / they”. After a show of love and support from fans on social media, who noticed the subtle change in profile, Halsey posted a brief but sweet Instagram to thank his followers.
“Thank you,” Halsey wrote from her heart on Instagram, apparently their only acknowledgment of the social pronoun change.
“I could cry so happy,” wrote a fan. “No, actually, it means a lot to me, because I have struggled a lot with my gender identity lately,” said another.

Halsey is expecting her first child with boyfriend Alev Aydin and seemed to allude to the update of the pronoun when the singer shared some thoughts on gender and pregnant bodies last week. Halsey posted some selfies and wrote a long caption, apparently suggesting that if it weren’t for being pregnant, they might not have come to that conclusion about their true gender identity.
“I have been thinking a lot about my body. it’s weird to see yourself changing so quickly. I thought that pregnancy would give me very strong binary feelings about ‘femininity’, but in fact it completely leveled my perception of gender, ”wrote Halsey on Instagram. “My sensitivity to my body has made me hyperconscious of my humanity and that is all. Doing a remarkable thing. And it’s great. I hope the feeling lasts. “
Halsey has always been transparent and forthright about her sexual orientation and support for the LGBTQ + community, and has been open about being bisexual for years, telling the audience at the GLAAD Media Awards 2018 that “I am a young, bisexual woman and I have spent much of my life trying to validate me – for my friends, for my family, for myself – trying to prove that who I love and how I feel is not a phase; it is not part of any confusion that is going to change or can be manipulated. “
