Halsey is reminding everyone that she is a fighter. The expectant mother announced on Wednesday, January 27, that she is expecting her first child with her boyfriend, Alev Aydin. She posted photos on Instagram with the caption “surprise! πΌππΌπ»” The news of her pregnancy is especially exciting because she suffers from endometriosis, a disease in which the tissue-like tissue that normally lines the inside of the uterus grows outside it. Halsey was open about her condition and recently shared photos of her scars from previous surgeries.

“Today I faced several terrible surgeries,” she wrote in an Instagram post now deleted. “The most important of these is the surgery that, I hope, would treat my endometriosis. For those of you who have followed this battle of mine or who may suffer from it, you know the extremes in which it can be mentally exhausting and physically painful.”
She added: “If you suffer from chronic pain or a debilitating illness, know that I have found time to live a crazy, wild and rewarding life. And to balance my treatment and I hope so much in my heart that you can too.”
She also shared ultrasound pictures of her baby with a small baby feet emoji.
“For a long time, I didn’t think having a family was something I would be able to do, and that is very, very important to me,” revealed Halsey in a 2019 Rolling Stone interview. “Then, one day, my obstetrician told me that maybe I could, and I was very touched. It felt like I was ascending to a different type of femininity.”
