Halsey reflects on her pregnancy

I tried ALL of Halsey’s makeups and here are the coolest products

Another day, another celebrity who became a beauty tycoon – what’s for lunch, right? But something hit me differently when the singer and songwriter Halsey announced her foray into the beauty field: About-Face. I was pumped. The artist is no ordinary star who beats his name on a makeup line; Halsey is, in fact, an enviable expert; famous for making her own glam that popped up on everything from album covers (including that turquoise-glittered eye for Manic) to red carpet events and live performances. In short, she knows a thing or two about beauty. About-Face is not like any other makeup brand (celebrity or otherwise) that I have tried. Perhaps it is the fact that the colors are carefully selected. Or perhaps it is the fact that she explores the artistic and cheerful element of makeup that especially attracts my soul at this point in the quarantine. Whatever Halsey is putting in his secret beauty sauce, it’s working. Read on for my opinion on each About-Face product featured in the collection – including selfies, what to buy in all colors and what to ignore. At Refinery29, we are here to help you navigate this oppressive world of things. All of our market choices are independently selected and curated by the editorial team. If you buy something for which we have a link on our website, Refinery29 can receive commission. Paint-It Matte Fix Lip Pencil and Matte Lip PencilThe first product I tried was matte lip liner and liquid lippies. I am constantly in search of the perfect nude tone, and these cocoa pink shades really spoke to me. For my olive skin, the Cradled lip liner is the perfect MLBB (“my lips but better”) shade, and I chose a layer of liquid lipstick in the Slumber eyeshadow for a brown lip inspired by the 90s. I was totally shaken when I took these lip pencils; they are creamy, pigmented and look good on their own. However, the formula is really the star here: it is full coverage in one touch and * actually * does not transfer to your glass (or mask!). In addition, a bright red hue (Hush Tonite, from About-Face’s Anti-V-Day collection) attracted oohs and aahs from my co-workers during a recent Zoom meeting. About-Face Paint-It Matte Lip Color, $ , available at About- FaceLight Lock Highlight Fluid & Light Lock Stick Have we reached the peak marker yet? Probably – but somehow, I always have room for just one more (or two, in this case). The stick formula is perfect for a tier one strobe, but if you want to raise the stakes, apply a few drops of the liquid. My favorite shades in the group are the champagne stick in Please Indulge Me combined with the liquid marker in Shaken Or Stirred.About-Face Light Lock Stick, $, available at About-FaceAbout-Face Light Lock Highlight Fluid, $, available at About -Face -FaceLight Lock Highlight FluidHaving vibration with liquid or stick markers, as they tend to blend into the skin more perfectly than a powder. A few drops of this sparkling fluid was enough to take my cheekbones to the strobe city, and I could also imagine mixing it in a base for a subtle and comprehensive glow. About Face Light Lock Highlight Fluid, $, available on About-StickLight LockI like how small and plump this stick was, and the fact that I could just slide and fade with my fingers. The texture was similar to a cream powder and left behind a subtle shine that was not very intense, which I liked. About-Face Light Lock Stick, $, available at About-FaceLight Lock Powder and Light Lock Lip GlossI love a tonal moment, so I chose matching tones when choosing between highlight powders and glosses. I applied the Lightspun eyeshadow like a suntan and spread the Payton glow (in honor of Halsey’s best friend!) Over the matte lip look on the first slide. About-Face Light Lock Powder, $, available at About-FaceAbout-Face-Light Lock Lip Gloss, $, available at About-FaceLight Lock PowderI have tried countless powder markers, and this one is pretty solid. That said, of all the products I’ve tried, this is the one I’m most inclined to skip. It gave a beautiful shine, but it was three sparkling – which is not necessarily a bad thing, but it is not for me. About-Face Light Lock Powder, $, available at About-FaceLight Lock Lip GlossGloss: It’s back and better than ever! The About-Face formula is comfortable and nothing short of beautiful. It comes in four shades, ranging from bright clear to pink Sugar Plum Fairy.About-Face Light Lock Lip Gloss, $, available at About-FaceMatte Fluid Eye PaintThese are probably my favorite products from the entire About-Face line. I love experimenting with eye makeup (see my previous adventures with Animal Crossing’s Colourpop collaboration), so these eye paints instantly begged to be used. After watching this tutorial on YouTube from Halsey herself (girl, launch a channel as soon as possible), I took a great trick: mix white with any shade to instantly lighten it up to a custom color. Eye paint with matte fluid on the face, $, available at About-FaceMatte Fluid Eye PaintThe possibilities with this magical thing are endless: mix it for a bath of color, or do what I do and apply it with a small angular brush as a graphic eyeliner. It’s pigmented AF, so, no matter how you use it, a little helps a lot. These are totally worth the $ .About-Face Matte Fluid Eye Paint, $, available at About-FaceShadowstickLast, but not least, there are eight funky shades of Shadowstick, a creamy jumbo pencil that comes in a variety of matte and shiny shades. In addition, an integrated sharpener makes it perfect for creating colorful color bands, precise lines and everything in between. About Shadowstick Face, $, available at About-FaceMatte Fix SprayThe bad news is that this material is out of stock. However, the good news is that, once you are back, you will definitely want to eliminate this setting mist, which refreshed my skin and even helped to minimize the transfer of the mask. About Face Matte Fix Spray, $, available at About-FaceBlend ToolI’m a minimalist. I like to use my fingers whenever possible to apply products – and if I use a tool, I keep it simple. This velvety sponge offers the same blending ability as a Beautyblender, but offers an extremely precise application, as it slides on your finger.About-Face Blend Tool, $, available at About-FaceThe final look with a complete facial makeup approved by Halsey! I mixed Matte Fluid Eye Paint in White Noise and Smoke Signal for an eyeliner shade to match my sweater, and accentuated my inner corner with Shadowstick in Oxide. On my cheeks is the Light Lock Stick in Please Indulge Me, Light Lock Highlight Fluid in Shaken or Shaken and Light Lock Powder in Lightspun. On the lips, Matte Fix Fix Lip Pencil in Cradled, Paint-It Matte Lip Color in Slumber and Light Lock Lip Gloss in Payton. Did you like what you saw? How about a little more kindness R29, right here?
