As part of its ongoing process of revealing more Halo Infinite throughout 2021, 343 Industries today released a new substantial update on the next sniper that gives us a better idea of what the studio intends with the project. In this latest dumping of information, several developers of the company spoke specifically about the game’s campaign and what it reserves.
Detailed on the Halo website, the focus of this new blog was largely to explain the world of Halo Infinite that players will experience in their single player portion. For those who don’t know, the game is set at Zeta Halo this time. When it comes to what 343 wanted to do with the design of this location, its two main goals were called “simplicity” and “legacy”. “For ‘Legacy’, we really want players to feel that they’re experiencing a game they remember fondly (Halo: Combat Evolved), but with modernized graphics, of course, ”explained 343 art leader Justin Dinges. “As far as ‘Simplicity’ is concerned, we wanted to ensure that we avoid overly noisy designs and details, which is an important lesson for the outgoing team. Halo 5. With Halo Infinite, we wanted to take this new adventure back to its roots and create a visually pleasing experience that would not overwhelm you with unnecessary complexity, where legibility and clear artistic composition prevail. “
Speaking more about the design of the Zeta Halo, Dinges said the team was very inspired by the surroundings of Washington. Therefore, Halo Infinite boasts a number of mountains, rivers and forests to explore.
This goal of making the world more like the old Halo games extends to enemy designs as well. Once again, Dinges said that 343 tried to simplify the designs of longtime enemies, such as the Jackals and the Grunts, to make them closer in nature “to their appearance in Halo 3 and previous titles. “
And while that may sound like 343 it’s purely trying to recreate the original games in the series with Halo Infinite, also seeks to bring new ideas. One is with Grappleshot, which was revealed in last year’s gameplay demo. When trying to create these environments, 343 says that he needs to decide not only how to build them from an aesthetic point of view, but also in relation to how players will move around. “The good news is that not only is the gameplay a lot more fun because of that, but we can also expect players to reach some really amazing locations and views that will show even more the beauty of the world we’ve created,” Dinges said of this new tool. “For me, Grappleshot is an exciting example of a new gameplay feature that offers big wins for players and developers.”
As a whole, it seems Halo Infinite is trying to find a great balance between new and old formats. Whether it will prove to be a success, remains to be seen, but considering how the first entries in this franchise are still adored today, it seems that 343 Industries has a good feeling of what fans want.
If you’re not already counting the days, Halo Infinite is scheduled to launch later this year on an undetermined date in the fall. The game will be coming to Xbox One, Xbox Series X and PC whenever it arrives.
