Halle Berry criticizes “disgusting” comments about the radio announcer’s preference for skin color

Halle Berry is saying what she thinks.

The 54-year-old actress emerged in a conversation during an episode of the podcast “The Morning Bull Show” that was shared on Twitter, during which host Rob Lederman spoke about his attraction to certain black women.

Before admitting his preference for lighter-skinned women, the announcer acknowledged that “he may have problems because of this”.

“I will never go to the level of Serena Williams,” he said, referring to her darker skin tone. “But I am very comfortable at the Halle Berry level. I need a little mulatto still going on.”

A co-host asked if Gayle King was in Lederman’s “kingdom”.

“No, Gayle King is not even on my toaster level,” replied Lederman.

A representative from the parent company of the podcast, Cumulus Media, confirmed to People magazine that Lederman’s comments resulted in his resignation.

In addition, Buffalo News reports that two co-hosts, Rich “Bull” Gaenzler and Chris Klein, have also been suspended.

Now, Berry is sharing his thoughts on the subject.

“Disgusting”, she said on Twitter on Friday. “It is ridiculous that this kind of nonsense is still being transmitted over radio waves.”

The Oscar winner added: “ALL black women are beautiful and dignified, Rob Lederman. [Get the f— out of here]. “

Lederman issued a public apology on Twitter on Thursday.

“I want to sincerely apologize for hurting people with my silly and ignorant comments from yesterday,” he started on a typed note. “After hearing what I said and how it must have sounded to others, I was horrified.”

He went on to explain that he understands people’s anger and acknowledges the mistake he made.

The broadcaster shared that he went to NAACP, its “friends of the African American community clergy” and the mayor’s office “to see their guidance and teaching”. He also pledged to increase his “sensitivity and understanding” of such matters.

“Please know that my comments are ignorant, but they are not meant to hurt, but I know that I, like many others, need to learn from this,” added Lederman. “This is a great opportunity for us to start communicating so that this mistake can be cured – not divided. I will make every effort to use what I am learning as a platform to better understand and, I hope, help others, while helping myself. same”
