DETROIT – With the announcement that six new vaccination clinics will open earlier this week, some elderly people – like Janice Coutilish, 83 – wonder if this will finally be their chance to receive the vaccine.
ORIGINAL STORY: Wayne County Announces New Vaccination Clinics for Seniors
“I actually talked to several ladies, particularly that each of them indicated that, you know, they are all waiting,” said Coutilish. “I think it will definitely be in everyone’s favor.”
Starting on Tuesday, the free clinics will open and will include Melvindale, Romulus, Wayne City, Canton Township and Plymouth who will pair up on a faculty along with Highland Park and Hamtramck. Elderly people should contact the faculty closest to them to schedule an appointment.

“So far, especially in the Wayne community, everything has been located in the Detroit area with very little else,” said Coutilish. “I am hopeful that now they will spread this out a little.”
So far, Wayne County has distributed more than 36,601 vaccines. Another 13,000 are scheduled for this week alone. Coutilish just wants to go ahead and get it over with.
“We wait for an entire year. We kind of followed all the rules and kind of, you know, we’ve been patient and now everyone’s anxious, ”concluded Coutilish. “Everyone is just anxious, but I think six should help.”
Note: Remember again, these vaccines will only be for residents of specific communities.

“Each vaccinated resident brings us closer to ending the pandemic,” said Evans. “I also want to thank the state of Michigan for working with Wayne County to ensure that we have more doses to vaccinate our seniors more quickly. The vaccine delivery process is limited by the vaccine available – from which no one is getting enough – but Wayne County is putting vaccines in the arms as soon as we get them. “
