GTA 5 fans are obsessed with watching Franklin be roasted

Grand Theft Auto 5 has been a PC modding wonderland for years, so you would think fans would run out of things to add to the game. At the very least, you might think that fans would eventually tire of trying to reinvent Los Santos. But instead, what has happened is that the barrier to modding has become superior – repairers need to work harder to stand out in the sea of existing mods that add almost every pop culture icon under the sun to open world RPG.

Maybe that’s why, at the end of December, the filming of a mod that inserts Cell’s Dragon Ball Z inside GTA 5the story mode exploded on social media. Many fans marveled at that GTA 5 mods are not content with merely cosmetic changes and instead add custom voice lines to make the scenes work with the new characters.

Since then, there has been an increase in videos showing mods that reinvent the scene above, where Lamar cheers Franklin for being ugly. For example, here’s the roast version of YouTube user Daymon, rendered as if it were a scene from a Japanese RPG Persona 5.

It went beyond TV shows or video games – you can also see movie characters, like Scarface, scold Franklin now.

The examples are almost endless, which makes sense, as fans consider the scene an icon of the game. Technically, people have been changing this scene for a long time, but interest in showing the roast has exploded again in the last month. Enough time has passed for fans to start distorting the meme in surreal and fun ways, as the mere act of seeing a new face destroy Franklin is simply not enough now. We are now at the meta point of this meme.

One YouTuber, for example, made 37 Lamars scold Franklin. Why 37? Who knows, but what I can say is that not all Lamars fit the picture.
