“Angry” Trump will miss Mar-a-Lago New Year’s Eve party

He is a thousand miles away, but President Trump cannot escape the election results. Every year, Trump celebrates New Year’s Eve at his resort in Mar-a-Lago, Florida, walking the red carpet surrounded by club members. But Trump spent his vacation trip to Palm Beach “fully focused on the results of the election and the oncoming certification process in Congress,” prompting him to return to the White House before the ball falls this year, reports CNN. On his visit to a-Lago, Trump is “angry” and “furious about everything from the election results to the reforms of First Lady Melania Trump in her private quarters,” several people who spoke to him told CNN. Trump was also concerned that Iran might retaliate for its decision to kill its top general, Qassem Soleimani; Trump ordered the January 3 attack on Soleimani de Mar-a-Lago. That is potentially another reason why Trump wants to return to Washington, one person told CNN. In general, Trump was widely fixed on January 6, when Congress, led by Vice President Mike Pence, will meet to affirm President-elect Joe Biden’s victory, sources tell CNN. Pence would have made it clear to Trump that there is nothing he can do to override the results, but Trump still spent his trip to Florida pressuring senators to oppose certification. Still, there is a sign that Trump has realized that he will not be in the White House for much longer: he is reportedly “researching” allies to determine whether he will go into Biden’s possession, reports CNN. The official White House schedule for Thursday was confirmed by Trump and the first lady would leave Florida for the White House at 11 am. Read more on CNN.
