A group of friends found a decomposing body in a freezer in an abandoned South Carolina home that they claimed was haunted, officials said.
The group was in a four-wheel drive vehicle when it drove home to Norway and decided to enter Sunday, WACH reported, citing the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office.
Inside, the group found a freezer and one of the friends opened it just to make the terrible discovery.
Madison Childers said it was a terrible experience to find the badly decomposed corpse.
“It was very scary. You couldn’t say it was a person, because. I think it was there for months,” Childers told WACH. “There were worms everywhere.”
Another witness described the smell as unbearable.
“As soon as the seal came off, it was just a horrible smell,” said witness Corey Antley. “It is something you will not forget.”
WSOC-TV reported that the abandoned house was set on fire two days later.
Authorities are investigating the two incidents.
