Candian’s musician and visual artist, Claire Elise Boucher, or Grimes, sold a gigantic $ 5.8 million in symbolic art in less than 20 minutes at Nifty Gateway.
On February 28, the popular musician launched her debut NFT collection, “WarNymph”, in collaboration with her brother, digital artist Mac Boucher.
The collection uses elements from mythology and futurism to create the “Oth3rkin universe”, with the Grimes WarNymph collection composed of a goddess who fights against obsolescence and future decay in a fictional kingdom. The list on the Nifty Gateway states:
“WarNymph is the Goddess of Neo-Genesis. It fights against the destructive force of obsolete ideas and systemic decay that threatens the future. She embodies the power of perpetual regeneration that manifests itself in a state of infinite childhood, where she sheds her old skin of corruption. “
The collection included four drawings sold by open drawing, three images sold in a silent auction and a regulatory auction for a single multimedia piece.
. Each of the artworks depicts angelic babies, often presented in dystopian settings, invoking themes relevant to popular culture – like an incubator that recalls The Matrix, and a monolith that invokes The planet of monkeys.

The four symbolic open edition designs cost $ 20 and were limited to 100 copies each, with buyers of each piece being chosen by lot. More than 13,000 people signed up for each open drawing.
The silent auctions, which allowed bidders to compete anonymously for one of 10 copies of three works of art, reached prices ranging from $ 77,000 to $ 111,000 – despite minimum bids starting at just $ 1,000.
The most expensive NFT sold was “Death of the Old”, an animation that depicts flying baby angels circling a bright white cross that is accompanied by an exclusive Grimes demo track. The piece was sold at a regular auction, with the winning bidder paying nearly $ 389,000 for the unique piece of art.
Grimes is a well-known Canadian musician and wife of Tesla’s CEO and Dogecoin enthusiast, Elon Musk. The entire Musk family is now involved in cryptography, with Tesla investing $ 1.5 billion in Bitcoin on February 8, and Elon buying Dogecoin for his 9-month-old son on February 11 so that he could become a “Toddler Hodler ”.
After his symbolized artistic debut, Grimes has become the best performing musician in the NFT industry to date. The musician has also sparked new drops that will be released as she continues to develop the Oth3rkin universe.
Grimes also noted that a portion of the profits will go to Carbon 180, an NGO dedicated to reducing carbon emissions.
Grimes’ debut follows the moves of other celebrities to embrace the NFTs, such as businessman Mark Cuban, actress Lindsay Lohan, lead singer of rock band Linkin Park, Mike Shinoda, and former MLB player Micah Johnson.
