More than 78,640 people in Massachusetts received their first dose of a coronavirus vaccine on Tuesday, with 32,590 people vaccinated the previous week, according to data released on Thursday in the state’s second COVID-19 vaccination report.

In total, 78,643 people have received their first doses since December 15, with about 44 percent of the doses going to people aged 30 to 49, according to the state. Another 36% were for people aged between 50 and 69 years old and 18% were for people aged between 20 and 29 years old. Only about 2% of doses were for people aged 70 and over.

Massachusetts health officials announced earlier this month that health professionals who are at high risk for exposure to coronavirus and residents and staff members at long-term care institutions would be first in line for the vaccine, followed by the police. , firefighters and first responders, home health professionals and health professionals who perform “care not linked to COVID”.

On Tuesday, 92 percent of people who were vaccinated work in hospitals and 4 percent work in primary care clinics. More than 72,300 hospital workers in Massachusetts received the vaccine.

Fifty-three percent of people who have been vaccinated are white and 15% are multiracial, according to state data. Five percent of vaccinated people are Asian, 4% are Hispanic and 3% are black.

Thursday’s panel includes data from December 22 to 29. During that week, the highest number of vaccine doses was administered on December 23, when 9,844 people received their first doses.

The state’s coronavirus vaccine panel, which will be posted every Thursday at 5 pm, also includes the number of vaccine doses that have been sent to Massachusetts providers and the number of doses sent to each county in the state.

In total, 285,050 doses of vaccines were sent to the state – 146,600 from Moderna and 138,450 from Pfizer. Between December 22 and 29, Pfizer dispatched 78,975 doses to Massachusetts, while Moderna dispatched 59,500 to the state.

Of all Massachusetts counties, Suffolk County has received the highest number of doses to date: 126,800. Middlesex County received 38,125 doses and Worcester County received 30,200 doses.
