Closing the economy was the worst possible response to the coronavirus pandemic, Goya Foods President and CEO Robert Unanue said on Friday.

“The problem is that it is a political year. They turned the coronavirus into a weapon. Unfortunately, they closed that economy,” Unanue told Fox & Friends.

“The worst thing we could do is close our economy, it killed our spirit. We need a reason to get up in the morning: God, family and work. And they are taking away our spirit, they are taking away our ability to work.”

Unanue said Democrats “essentially declared martial law” by “shutting it down”.

“It is the worst thing we could have done. Just for political gain, I think it is a crime, I think it is immoral to close this economy for this … basically political reason,” said Unanue.

Unanue went on to say, “We are a nation under God. We are not a nation under Twitter, we are not a nation under mainstream media and or under essential government. We are trying to have media and great control over technology in our lives – the government controls our lives. We need not to get away from God. We need to get closer to God.
