Governor Greg Abbott will present updates on the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine in Texas

SANTO ANTÓNIO – Governor Greg Abbott on Monday will provide an update on the distribution of the state’s COVID-19 vaccine in Texas.

Abbott is expected to speak during a midday press conference at the Arlington Expo Center, one of the state’s mass vaccination sites COVID-19. The press conference will be broadcast live in this article, but delays are possible. If there is no live stream available, check again later.

Nim Kidd, chief of the Texas Emergency Management Division, John Hellerstedt, Texas State Health Services Commissioner and Barclay E. Berdan, Texas Health Resources CEO, will also be present.

This week, 28 hub providers in Texas are expected to receive more than 158,000 doses of the vaccine. A total of 19,725 doses will go to two Bexar County centers: 9,000 Modern vaccines will go to the Metropolitan Health District and 10,725 doses of Pfizer will go to University Health, according to the state.

The city of San Antonio will begin administering the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine to those who are eligible starting this week at the Alamodome. It will be in operation during the week, but the registration to receive the vaccine was filled in a few minutes when it opened on Saturday.

San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg and Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff wrote a letter to Abbott on Sunday requesting more COVID-19 vaccines for Bexar County “as soon as possible.”

Texas is vaccinating healthcare professionals, people aged 65 and over, and those with medical conditions that put them at greater risk of hospitalization and death from COVID-19.

On Sunday, the death toll in the state is over 30,000 people, with the number of hospitalizations due to the coronavirus rising steadily.

Johns Hopkins says that in the past two weeks, the average number of new daily cases in Texas has increased by 9,363.7, an increase of 76.9%.
