Governor Evers announces the extension of the mask’s mandate across the state, while the vaccine launch continues

Governor Tony Evers

MADISON, Wisconsin – Governor Tony Evers is issuing a new public health order and extending Wisconsin’s state mask mandate for another two months.

The governor made the announcement during a briefing on Friday with the Department of Health Services.

“Guys, I’ve said this before and I’m sure I’ll repeat it over and over again, so that the vaccine does its job in the coming months, we have to continue working together to stop the spread of COVID-19 today,” said Evers.

The current order requiring statewide facial coverage is expected to expire next week. The governor said his new order will extend that requirement for another 60 days, as the state works on the distribution of vaccines.

Details on the new order are expected to be released later on Friday.

The governor also announced that assisted living units will be allowed to start receiving the vaccine immediately and the state is launching a set of mobile vaccination teams next week.
