Governor Andrew M. Cuomo announced today 183,984 first and second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the past 24 hours, a record for the state. In addition, the governor announced that 5,143,219 first and second doses have been administered to date, 801,993 of which have been administered by state-administered mass vaccination sites. As of 11 am today, providers in New York have administered 95 percent of the first doses administered so far. The week 12 allocation from the federal government is in the process of being handed over to suppliers for administration.
“We are working tirelessly to vaccinate New Yorkers as quickly and fairly as possible, with special attention to the historically underserved communities that suffered the most during this pandemic,” Governor Cuomo said. “Our vast network of distribution locations, including 24/7 operations in certain communities, is receiving more and more shots each day. With a true partner in the White House, I am confident that we will continue to see increases for our weekly allocations and we are ready to increase our distribution efforts as soon as we receive more doses. “
Approximately 10 million New Yorkers are currently eligible to receive the vaccine. New York’s vast distribution network and large population of eligible individuals still far exceed the supply from the federal government. Due to limited supplies, New Yorkers are encouraged to remain patient and are advised not to attend vaccination sites without an appointment.
The ‘I’m eligible’ screening tool has been updated for individuals with underlying comorbidities and conditions with new consultations released on an ongoing basis in the coming weeks. New Yorkers can use the following to show that they are eligible:
- Doctor’s letter, or
- Medical information showing comorbidity, or
- Signed certification

* These figures represent 60 percent of vaccines for week 12 Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson. The full allocation for Week 12 is expected to arrive at the end of the day, Sunday, March 7.
To date, New York providers have administered 95 percent of the first doses received from the federal government, but due to the limited allocation from the federal government, appointments have been filled quickly. New Yorkers looking to determine eligibility and schedule an appointment at a state-run mass vaccination site can visit the ‘I’m eligible’ website. New Yorkers can also call their local health department, pharmacy, doctor or hospital for additional information and to schedule appointments where vaccines are available.
The COVID-19 vaccine control panel is available to update New Yorkers about the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine. The New York State Department of Health requires vaccination facilities to report all administration data for the COVID-19 vaccine within 24 hours; vaccine administration data on the panel is updated daily to reflect the most up-to-date metrics in the state’s vaccination effort.
New Yorkers who suspect fraud in the vaccine distribution process can now call 833-VAX-SCAM (833-829-7226) for free or email the state’s Department of Health. [email protected]. The hotline team will forward complaints to the appropriate investigative agencies to ensure that New Yorkers are not taken advantage of while the state works to vaccinate the entire eligible population.
