Governor Andrew Cuomo Aides receives subpoenas in sexual harassment investigation

The New York state attorney general’s office has subpoenaed dozens of Cuomo government officials, including his top aide, asking them to present documents as part of an investigation into sexual harassment charges against the governor, according to people familiar with the matter.

Melissa DeRosa, whose position is secretary of the governor and who was at the center of the response to the state’s pandemic, is among the authorities who received a subpoena earlier this month, people said. The attorney general’s investigators also questioned women who accuse Governor Andrew Cuomo of inappropriate behavior in relation to his interactions with DeRosa, the women and their lawyers said.

Ana Liss, a former Cuomo aide who accused the Democratic governor of misconduct, said that, during an interview with investigators, she was asked about DeRosa’s behavior in the workplace.

Investigators asked about how Ms. DeRosa interacted with her, said Ms. Liss, who worked at the state capitol in 2014. “They were trying to find out if I was a target for Melissa,” said Ms. Liss.

She told investigators that she did not have much business with DeRosa, who at the time was director of communications for Cuomo.
